Conceived as a nomadic annual event to celebrate and share Aboriginal living culture on the Mid North Coast with the wider community to commemorate Australia Day as a positive, inclusive, family day, the Saltwater Freshwater Festival moves to Taree for its fourth year. The brainchild of the Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance Aboriginal Corporation, which is composed of the ten Local Aboriginal Land Councils from Karuah to Coffs Harbour, the Saltwater Freshwater Festival was an instant success when 12,000 turned up for the first festival at Coffs Harbour in 2010.
