With about  30 theatre companies and its own theatre awards night, Newcastle has changed from steel town to performance hub.

 NSW’s second most populous city is better known as the former home of BHP steelworks or the gateway to the Hunter Valley wine region but with little more than 300,000 people one of its most remarkable features is the number of theatre companies.
