After four successful years, the Cairns Indigenous Art Fair (CIAF) is undergoing a review with the purpose of determining a new governance model. To this end, Queensland Arts Minister Ian Walker this week announced a transition taskforce charged with gathering feedback and making recommendations to the minister on the future direction of the event.

Funded through the Queensland Government’s Backing Indigenous Arts (BIA) program and delivered by Arts Queensland (with the support of other departments) over four days, the event merges cultural events with its main objective: developing an ethical marketplace for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art.
