Pacific Arts Festival calls for Indigenous artists

The Festival of Pacific Arts is currently seeking expressions of interest from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists who wish to take part in the festival.

The 11th Festival of Pacific Arts is to be held in Honiara in the Solomon Islands, and will run from July 1st-14th 2012. The festival is held every four years and celebrates the culture of 27 Pacific nations.

Interest is sought from Indigenous artists and groups who have experience in areas of contemporary and traditional dance, music, theatre, literature, visual arts, crafts, filmmaking and digital media.

Expressions of interest must demonstrate the applicant’s artistic skills and export-ready material, experience in international/national touring and team work, an understanding of Indigenous culture and a highly motivated and dedicated personality.

To be eligible to partake in the festival, candidates must:

• Possess or obtain a current Australian passport
• Provide confirmation of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander identity provided y an organization registered under the Aboriginal Councils and Associations Act 1976 or other relevant legislation, as requested by ATSIAB
• Submit examples of work on DVD or USB, including high quality digital imagery where appropriate.
