Approximately 30,000 people joined in the celebrations of the Kabukiza Theatre’s grand reopening. Among them were 63 kabuki performers, including actors Nakamura Tokizo, Ichikawa Ennosuke, Ichikawa Ebizo, Nakamura Kankuro and Nakamura Shichinosuke, who marched along the 400-metre parade route.

‘We hardly ever see this many actors all at once,’ Natsuko Sekimoto, a 54-year-old company employee from Ichikawa told The Japan Times. ‘I am very much excited about the reopening of the theater.’
