One of Australia’s top business figures and a staunch supporter of the arts passed away in Sydney this week from complications following surgery.

Tributes are flowing in for James Strong, who will be most remembered as the managing director of Qantas but who also leant his business skills to the arts community, chairing the Australia Council, the Sydney Theatre Company, Australian Brandenburg Orchestra and the Australia Business Arts Foundation. He was also director of Opera Australia.
