Since ancient times, we have been constructing narratives around light.
Today that conversation meets the latest technologies with a calendar of light festivals around the world. It has also become the domain of social commentary for many contemporary artists; a medium to talk about climate change and the landscape, while for other artists it offers an ethereal expression of beauty.
Gina Fairley is ArtsHub's Senior Contributor, after 12 years in the role as National Visual Arts Editor.
