Melbourne Writers Festival Alternate Keynote address: Freedom of Speech: Should there be limits? With Ian Buruma

The opening night of the Melbourne Writer’s Festival was not a great night to be out, the end of a wet and wild day. So getting people to come to a second key note speech on the future of liberal democracy in Europe and freedom of speech and expression at 9.30pm, after a sensibly timed and top-billed first keynote, was a hard ask.
