With all this hooplah around the idea of ‘emerging’ artists, it seems like a reasonable time to pass on the announcement that the 2012 Emerging Writers’ Festival will be the last for director Lisa Dempster. Her third and final festival is set to be the biggest yet when it celebrates its 10th anniversary, which kicks off on 24 May. According to Dempster the 11-day festival will be a culmination of her three years guiding the event and promises to be an inspiring experience.

“My focus for the festival has always been about creating opportunities for writers to develop their careers in a supportive and friendly environment. The Festival is unique because it programs with writers in mind, and all the events on offers are designed to inform, inspire and connect writers at all stages of their career,” says Dempster.
