Australian Lucy Smith improved on her second place at last year’s Margaret Flockton Award for Excellence in Scientific Botanical Illustration by winning this year’s event in Sydney.
Smith takes home $5000 for her illustration of Nepenthes Petiolata, while second place and $2500 went to Edmundo Saavedra Vidal from Mexico for his rendition of Taraxacum Officinale. Smith said she was delighted to take top honours in her tenth-entry to one of the world’s highly regarded botanical illustration competitions.
