Depot Theatre blames ‘angry mob’ for its pre-emptive closing

Sydney’s newest independent theatre has announced its closure two months before its official opening.

The Depot Theatre in Marrickville, which was due to open in July, has instead announced its abrupt closure.

‘We had great plans to create a new independent theatre venue, but instead have been forced out by detractors conducting what can only be described as a witch hunt,’ The Depot Theatre’s co-founders Julie Baz and David Jeffrey announced in a statement released late Sunday night.
