Australian String Quartet to tour China before line-up dissolves

The Adelaide-based ensemble will perform and host masterclasses in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenyang before their current line-up dissolves over 'artistic differences'.

This will be the fourth foray into China by the Australian String Quartet (ASQ), though it marks the first tour for the ensemble’s current line-up: violinists Kristian Winther and Ioana Tache, violist Stephen King, and cellist Sharon Draper.

The ASQ embark on 10 September, and – in conjunction with the University of Adelaide – will deliver masterclasses and mentoring sessions at two of China’s most distinguished music schools, the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and the Shenyang Conservatory of Music.
