Opera Australia has agreed to donate a portion of its archives to Arts Centre Melbourne for foyer audiences to enjoy.

The agreement announced this week includes the donation of production, performance and company pieces, and will feature pieces worn by Dame Joan Sutherland and set pieces designed for Baz Luhrmann’s 1990 production of La Bohème.

Arts Centre Melbourne Chief Executive Judith Isherwood said that, although the Arts Centre’s Performing Arts Collection already contains over 510,000 pieces, more than 200 of which are associated with Opera Australia, the new agreement will be a significant addition to their archives.
