Accessible Arts NSW, the peak body for the arts and disability sector in the state, has released the findings of its 2010 survey of Arts Program for People with Disability in NSW. It has revealed a ‘pleasing quantity of arts programs for people with disability that is sadly not matched by appropriate delivery.’

The survey was the first of its kind to be undertaken in NSW focussed on investigating the creative programs and opportunities that exist in NSW for people with disabilities. The survey was available online and was distributed to 806 organisations and individuals that provide programs for people with disability and to disability services. Of the 22% that responded almost two thirds did provide arts programs. The survey looked at what art forms were being offered, for what age groups and disability types and levels, the locations and frequency of programs, the costs involved and the level of professional training of arts workers.
