Is a $280 million arts precinct enough for the Gold Coast to shed its image of theme parks and meter maids?

 

The problem that the Gold Coast has long faced is excess. High rise buildings lord it above the shore, towering over the real star of the region – the natural environment. Here, it appears that property developers have torn down the fences put up by town planners and roamed free, with results that divide those who live and visit there.
