The sector became excited this week at reports that the Government would return Catalyst funding to the Australia Council. Is it true? This is what the record suggests.

Catalyst, announced by Minister for the Arts Senator Mitch Fifield in November 2015, was a rebadging of previous Minister Senator Brandis’ enormously unpopular National Program for Excellence in the Arts (NPEA).

There were cautious celebrations this week when the Daily Review reported the money would be returned to the Australia Council but such optimism may be premature.
