The exhibition opens with Marie Laurencin’s Apollinaire and his friends (second version) (1909), a fascinating introduction where one can begin to examine the character of Picasso among his peers.
The Surrealism section presents some of the most interesting and ambitious works in the exhibition, although the show’s protagonist never openly admitted his afflictions with the movement.
