The real story of COVID’s impact on QLD regional galleries

Museums & Galleries Queensland Rebekah Butler reveals some hidden tolls of the pandemic in her state.

One thing we have come to know about this pandemic is that its impact is uneven.

A clear illustration of that is Queensland’s museum and galleries sector. While this state has not faced lockdowns like Victoria and NSW, its tourism experiences have presented their own challenges.

ArtsHub caught up with Rebekah Butler, Executive Director of Museums & Galleries Queensland (M&G QLD), who said ‘it has not been an easy time for our sector.’
