After five months, the Australian Performing Arts Market (APAM) Scoping Study by arts and cultural policy specialist Justin Macdonnell from the Anzarts Institute was released last week by the Australia Council.

Commissioned last October, the purpose of the study was to evaluate the relevance and effectiveness of APAM in its current form and to make recommendations about ‘future strategic directions’. In a statement at the time, Fenn Gordon, Director of Market Development for the Australia Council said it was a timely opportunity to scope the market. The Australia Council’s contract with Arts South Australia is due to conclude at the end of the 2012 market and the last substantive review of APAM was in 2003.
