Death in art: it’s so hot right now

From a contemporary response to Frankenstein, to an aural exploration of the body decaying after death, artists across the country are exploring creative responses to mortality.

Two hundred years since the publication of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, it seems wherever you turn in art right now, darkness is waiting for you.

In the film world, deathly thrillers are topping the charts (Mandy, Halloween, Bad Times at the El Royale) while UK graffiti artist Banksy’s latest work at auction was literally a spectacle in self-destruction.
