Why you need an Equity Action Plan

What is an Equity Action Plan and does your organisation need one? The short answer is yes.

In June this year, the Australia Council released its latest research report: Towards Equity: A research overview of diversity in Australia’s arts and cultural sector. It was the first comprehensive study of its kind that looked at the enormous collective charter of equity – including First Nations, CALD, disability, geography, age and gender equity.

It comes in the wake of Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre and the Workplace Gender Equality Agency’s (WGEA) Gender Equity Insights 2021: Making it a Priority report (March 2021), which takes a more focussed look at gender in the workplace. That report states, ‘it is likely to take another 26 years for the full-time total remuneration gender pay gap to close completely.’
