Artists make a charge on Canberra for better rights
Artists have gathered in Canberra this week for NAVA's Future/Forward conference and to discuss a Code of Practice, copyright and political agitation for change.

Over 240 artists and peak visual arts organisations gathered in Canberra yesterday (Tuesday 14 August), on the doorstep of Parliament. The timing was key as our politicians and policy makers were sitting. Led by the National Association for Visual Artists (NAVA), the topic on the table at the Future/Forward conference, was how can we – as a sector – advocate for greater visibility, better policy and a more stringent Code of Practice?
Gina Fairley is ArtsHub's Senior Contributor, after 12 years in the role as National Visual Arts Editor.
