AUT’s School of Art + Design is one of New Zealand’s largest providers of Art + Design education. We currently engage with approximately 1300 students and offer programmes of study from a multi-discipline Design Degree, a Visual Arts degree, through to Masters and Doctoral level post-graduate study.

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

The School is seeking a Senior Technician for Screen Printing, Etching, Lithography and Relief to provide valuable assistance to staff and students to ensure they achieve their learning objectives and receive a positive and memorable experience in using the Printmaking Facilities. This facility is increasingly utilised alongside the Graphic Image, Bindery/Publication, and Photography Labs, across a variety of hand-authored, analogue, experimental, graphical and digital processes through both emerging and traditional printmaking and printmaking adjacent technologies.

Nga haepapa matua | Key Responsibilities

This role involves providing valuable technical assistance to staff and students to ensure they achieve their learning objectives and receive a positive and memorable experience in using the Printmaking Facilities in the School of Art & Design at AUT University. Tertiary education involves engaging with various students, staff, and external clients, as well as addressing different requirements and supporting a range of teaching and research projects. 

You will support both internal and external clients, ensuring health and safety compliance while fostering positive, respectful relationships. A proactive, self-motivated attitude with a commitment to continuous learning is essential.

He kōrero mōu | About you

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or relevant industry qualification or experience
  • Proven experience in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting technical equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues independently.
  • Sound knowledge of health and safety regulations and safe working practices.
  • Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts and create clear documentation.
