Newtown High School of the Performing Arts is seeking a Production assistant to support the Drama faculty
Job Title: Production Assistant
Location: Newtown High School of the Performing Arts – Drama Department
Position Type: Part-Time Casual (2 Days a Week) Start Date: Semester 2, 2025 (ongoing)
Compensation: $46.75 per hour
Role Overview:
The Drama Department at Newtown High School of the Performing Arts is actively seeking a dedicated Production Assistant to support the faculty and manage various production resources, with a primary focus on the costume and props departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Costume Management: Maintain and organize the costume store, ensuring costumes are well-curated for performances, along with performing basic laundry and upkeep.
- Prop Oversight: Manage the prop stores for productions and showcases, ensuring all items are accessible and well-organized.
- Collaboration: Work closely with staff and directors to address costume and prop requirements for productions and showcases.
- Production Support: Assist in all aspects of productions, performances, and showcases, providing support to faculty and students as needed.
- Administrative Duties: Conduct data entry and other administrative tasks to ensure smooth operations within the Drama faculty.
- Additional Support: Contribute to co-curricular programs and initiatives as directed by the Head of Drama.
Key Skills and Attributes:
- Strong communication skills.
- Excellent organizational abilities.
- Proficient IT skills, with the ability to manage schedules and communications with a range of stakeholders.
- Knowledge and/or experience in costume and prop management.
- A genuine passion for theatre and the performing arts.
Requirements:
- Current Working With Children Check (WWCC) is mandatory.
- Willingness to complete onboarding with the Department of Education as a Non-Teaching Employee.
