About the Role
We are looking for a highly organised Product Manager to lead the development and execution of the marketing strategy for the Acoustic Piano category. This role requires exceptional time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a clear strategic focus.
Reporting to the Product Marketing Manager – Piano and Keyboards, the Product Manager will be responsible for driving sales growth and profitability by generating market demand across both existing and new market segments. Additionally, they will serve as the central hub for strategic planning and information sharing between the Marketing, Sales, and Business Planning teams. They will also act as an expert advisor to Yamaha distributors, dealers, and end users.
Key duties and responsibilities of the role:

Become an ‘expert’ in all products within the assigned portfolio:
knowing all key features and use cases
being aware of market trends and changes in customer needs and behaviours
know our competitors’ brands and products and how they compare to ours

Conduct comprehensive market and competitive analysis

Develop pricing strategy to maximise sales, profit and competitive positioning

In collaboration with Marketing and Sales teams, create both a promotional and distribution strategy, and set metrics to measure performance of each

Maintain an accurate sales and inventory forecasting plan for each product

Maintain stock control and monitor inventory within the set limits

Provide product training for internal staff and external partners

Manage the Yamaha Music Australia (YMA) Piano Care Program

Maintain product information and pricing data in all of YMA’s connected systems

Work with the YMA team to deliver events such as conferences, trade shows, consumers shows and product launches

Build strong relationships with the YMA team and our key external partners

Contribute to the global strategy by sharing our analysis, planning and performance data with key contacts at Yamaha Corporation Japan as required

Other duties as required
Your skills and experience:

Minimum 3 years’ experience in a sales or marketing role, ideally working with luxury products

Minimum 3 years’ industry experience with some piano product knowledge

Marketing/Business degree or similar (valued but not essential)

Professional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate information clearly and concisely

Methodical worker with highly developed time management, problem solving and multi-tasking skills

Accurate data entry skills and attention to detail

Enthusiastic and self-motivated with the ability to build and manage relationships and work autonomously with minimal supervision

Intermediate proficiency in the Microsoft Suite, especially Excel and Word
Other requirements:

Some interstate and international travel may be required so must be able to freely travel and obtain relevant documentation (visa, passport etc) as necessary

Must be eligible and able to obtain a Working With Children check as this may be required for some projects

This role is open to start in June/July 2025 and we encourage early applications. It is a full-time position working from our head office in South Melbourne. We have a hybrid work model in place, working Mondays and Fridays from home, and Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from the office.
