MYO Board Director Call Out

With a newly adopted Strategic Plan in place, the MYO Board is seeking new directors to help enrich young lives through music.

Who We Are

Melbourne Youth Orchestras (MYO) is Victoria’s leading provider of ensemble music education for young people aged 8 to 25. Established in 1967, we continue to grow our community on a reputation for excellence, supporting young musicians to reach their potential, in creative and inspirational learning environments.

 What We Do

We bring young Victorians together for exceptional ensemble music education. Whether in our weekly ensemble program or at our annual Summer School, Winter School, or many other programs, we bring thousands of young musicians together to rehearsal and explore ensemble music: in symphony orchestras, string orchestras, jazz orchestras, symphonic bands and choirs.

 Why We Do It

To improve young people’s live and contribute to Victoria’s arts and culture. Our program is designed to instil a lifelong love of music, because we know that by building a love of music, we can motivate life-long learning and participation, not only fuelling personal wellbeing but also building a stronger creative sector. We believe that no young learner should ever be excluded based on disadvantage, and our diverse learning community brings together students from all backgrounds and walks of life, united by a love of music and a commitment to excellence.

 Our Board

Board Directors contribute to the governance, strategic direction, and overall success of MYO. They support and shape an organisation to ensure that MYO continues to thrive as a leader in music education.
