Lead Technical Services Officer

Deliver and oversee technical event services across venues, coordinating crews, equipment, and clients to ensure smooth, safe, high-quality production

  • Lead the delivery of technical services across events and cultural venues in the Bass Coast region
  • Part Time Permanent | Wonthaggi and Cowes
  • $40.07 per hour plus superannuation

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Bass Coast Shire Council is seeking a skilled and motivated Venue Technical Services Officer to lead the delivery of high-quality technical services across our cultural venues, primarily working between Berninneit Cultural center on Phillip Island and The Union Theatre, Wonthaggi.

In this hands-on role, you will provide high level technical advice, operate specialist equipment, and oversee the day-to-day delivery of technical services for a diverse range of events. From live performances and community events to touring productions, you will play a key role in ensuring seamless, safe, and professional event delivery.

You will work closely with clients, performers, and internal teams to assess event requirements, develop technical plans, and coordinate all aspects of event setup, operation, and pack down. On event days, you will supervise technical staff and crew, ensuring delivery meets safety standards, technical specifications, and client expectations.

There is also an administrative aspect to this role in liaising and communicating with external venue hirers and artist management prior to events, ensuring that all technical requirements are discussed, documented and provided for clients on our end.

This is a dynamic position suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys balancing technical expertise with leadership and customer service. The role operates on a roster across varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

ABOUT YOU

You are an experienced technical professional with a strong background in live production, theatre, or venue operations. You bring a practical, solutions-focused approach and are confident leading teams in a live event environment. You are physically fit and able to perform lifting and manual handling tasks during event set-up, pack down and venue maintenance periods.

Experience with systems such as ETC EOS or GrandMA lighting, Allen & Heath Digital audio, and Blackmagic vision systems will be highly regarded. Construction Tickets, White Card, EWP, Doggers and Riggers experience are also valuable assets for this role.
