Arts Centre Melbourne

Head of Organisational Development & Enablement

Lead a new function building org infrastructure, learning, and employee experience, partnering with People Ops to deliver consistent practice.

Summary

Lead a brand new function designed to do something Arts Centre Melbourne has never had dedicated capacity for: build the infrastructure, frameworks and capability that shape how people experience work here. Reporting to the Director of People & Culture, the Head of OD & Enablement leads our learning strategy, manager capability uplift, employee journey design and the projects that turn good intentions into consistent practice, partnering with the Head of People Operations to make the whole P&C team greater than the sum of its parts.

About the Position

As Head of Organisational Development & Enablement, you’ll step into Arts Centre Melbourne at a moment of genuine momentum, and lead a function that has never existed here before. You’ll design the frameworks, learning pathways and infrastructure that shape how every team member experiences work at ACM, from their first day to their last.

If People Operations is the heartbeat of People & Culture, OD & Enablement is the architect. You’ll map the employee journey end-to-end, spot where the experience breaks down, and build something better in its place. You’ll help build our learning strategy and manager capability uplift. You’ll partner closely with the Head of People Operations and Director to turn what we learn in the field into systems that prevent problems recurring.

This is a role for someone who wants to build, not just maintain. Someone energised by a blank page and a clear mandate.

Full time ongoing position. Band 5.3 Salary $146,307.68 per annum plus superannuation.

Your Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Organisational Development, Human Resources, Learning & Development, Business or related field (or equivalent senior experience)

  • Extensive leadership experience in OD, L&D, or workforce enablement within complex organisations

  • Proven ability to design capability frameworks and improve employee experience

  • Strong experience in learning strategy, leadership development, and engagement surveys

  • Demonstrated expertise in organisational diagnostics and employee journey mapping

  • Advanced project leadership across multi-stream, organisation-wide initiatives

  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills at senior leadership level

  • Experience with workforce analytics, LMS, and people systems

About the Team

People & Culture at Arts Centre Melbourne is a function being deliberately rebuilt with care and ambition. Under new leadership, we’re moving from reactive to proactive, from siloed to integrated, and building a framework genuinely fit for purpose.

OD & Enablement is the brand-new function at the heart of that change. It’s the weave of P&C; taking what People Operations learns in the field, and what Equity & Inclusion brings in belonging, and turning it all into frameworks, training and tools that make the whole organisation better.

You’ll join a small, talented, generous team that has held the line through years of complexity and is excited about what comes next. You won’t be inheriting someone else’s playbook. Get ready, you’ll be writing your own.
