Koorie Heritage Trust

Curator, Exhibitions and Collections

Ready to join a dynamic and innovative First Peoples arts and cultural organisation where culture, creativity and community come together?

The Koorie Heritage Trust (KHT) located in the Birrarung Building at Fed Square, is seeking a passionate and experienced Curator, Exhibitions and Collections to join our team. Working with the KHT Curatorial Team and CEO, and reporting to, and supported by the KHT Curatorial Manager, this role plays a vital part in delivering a dynamic visual arts exhibition program that deepens engagement with both Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities, attracts new audiences, and enhances the overall visitor experience.

As Curator, you will collaborate closely with Victorian-based Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, cultural practitioners, and guest curators to co-develop and present an inspiring schedule of exhibitions and collection-based displays that celebrate the diversity and vibrancy of contemporary Victorian First Peoples art and culture.

In addition to exhibition delivery, you will play a key role in the stewardship, interpretation, and development of the KHT’s significant collections, which include artworks, artefacts, oral histories, photographic archives, and a specialist reference library focused on Koorie and South-East Australian Aboriginal culture.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a nationally significant organisation that is an integral part of the Melbourne Arts Precinct,  and which is committed to cultural revitalisation and the celebration of Victorian First Peoples’ stories through the visual arts.

First Peoples are strongly encouraged to apply.
