The Awakenings Festival is a disability and arts festival that will be bringing its annual buzz to the Wimmera region town of Horsham, about 300km north-west of Melbourne, this week.

Artistic Director Jacinda O’Sullivan says being involved can be a life-changing experience. It provides people with disability or mental health issues with an avenue for creative expression, to show their art work and to develop. As volunteer organisers as well there’s a tremendous sense of achievement. It’s the feeling of being on the centre stage town, being a star.
