Sydney Philharmonia Choirs is thrilled to present its annual ‘big sing’ ChorusOz, an extraordinary weekend of community and music-making, featuring one of the most spectacular operas ever written, Verdi’s Aida, at the iconic Sydney Opera House on Sunday 7 June.

Following their 2025 performance of Ralph Vaughan Williams’ A Sea Symphony last year, which saw more than 900 choristers join forces in a ‘tsunami of sound’ (The Daily Telegraph), ChorusOz returns bigger and better than ever with concert highlights from Verdi’s Grand Opera of love, jealousy and betrayal. A highlight will be the famous Triumphal Chorus, but this opera also overflows with favourite arias and duets including ‘Celeste Aida’ and ‘O patria mia’.

Renowned Australian conductor Brett Weymark OAM leads a chorus of passionate music-makers from every state and territory across Australia, four world-class soloists and the full Sydney Philharmonia Orchestra in an emotional journey of forbidden love, set in ancient Egypt.

Australian Soprano Helena Dix makes her SPC debut performing the iconic role of Aida for the very first time, alongside mezzo-soprano Angela Hogan also making her SPC debut as Ameris. Tenor Diego Torre (Verdi’s Requiem 2023, Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 2023) sings the role of Radames, and baritone Michael Honeyman (Ode to Joy 2024, Mahler 8 2023, Dvořák’s Requiem 2019, ChorusOz Elijah 2017) is Amonasro.
