Beyond box ticking: advocating for cultural diversity in the arts

The pressing need to create culturally inclusive workplaces is detailed in a recent report released by Diversity Arts Australia.

The Australian arts appears to be a diverse and inclusive environment, however people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds often face barriers to participation.

These barriers, such as systemic discrimination; tokenism, misrepresentation and a lack of CALD decision-makers, are outlined in a report commissioned by  Diversity Arts Australia (DARTS) Voice, Agency and Integrity A report on Beyond Tick Boxes: A symposium on cultural diversity in the creative sector, released last month.
