Barrie Kosky returns to Adelaide

The former Adelaide Festival Artistic Director's epic Handel opera Saul will play exclusively at the 2017 festival.

Co-Artistic Directors of the Adelaide Festival, Neil Armfield AO and Rachel Healy, today announced an exclusive season of Barrie Kosky’s opera Saul as the ​opening event of their inaugural 2017 festival.

Composed by George Frideric Handel with a libretto by Charles Jennens, Saul explores the relationship between the titular first king of Israel and his successor, the giant-slayer David.
