Rush was appointed a Companion of the Order of Australia and Weaver was made an Officer of the Order of Australia. Other notables to be honoured include the late frontman of Yothu Yindi, Dr Yunupingu; the Executive Director of the National Association for the Visual Arts (NAVA), Tamara Winikoff; and performers Nancye Hayes and Rhonda Burchmore.

The OA marks a double honour for Weaver, who was this week also announced as the recipient of the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts’ (AACTA) Raymond Longford Award in honour of her lengthy career.
