‘I don’t know much about art but I know what I like,’ is a cliche that frustrates anyone producing art.

A landmark survey on visual art preferences from Western Sydney University’s Institute of Culture and Society has uncovered that what we like may have more to do with age, class and ethnicity than individual taste.
