Shining hope into 2017

Having put the challenges of 2016 behind us, we've asked a range of industry figures to share some optimism for 2017.

With a swathe of arts organisations losing funding and the deaths of such artists and performers as David Bowie, Derek Ives, Carrie Fisher and Inge King, 2016 was a rough year for many. But now that the New Year has dawned, it’s time to put the past behind us. So we asked some significant arts figures to shine a little light into 2017 by telling us their hopes for the new year. From excitement around an upcoming event or opportunity to big hopes for decolonisation of the arts and appreciation of the role artists play in society, here are their responses.
