Brisbane City Council’s Creative Grants Opening Soon!

Have a creative project you’ve been dreaming about? Whether you’re developing new work, exploring a bold idea or taking the next step in your creative career, one of Brisbane City Council’s creative grants can help bring your vision to life. 

You can apply for either a Creative Sparks Grant or a Lord Mayor’s Creative Fellowship depending on your goal, but you can only apply for one each year.  

Creative Sparks Grants Program — up to $15,000 

The grant supports you to create and present accessible creative work that will be shared with the public. It is open to eligible Brisbane-based professional artists, creative workers and not-for-profit community arts, cultural and historical organisations. The grant is an initiative of Brisbane City Council in partnership with the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland. Please note, this grant can only support projects where activities start after 15 March 2027 

Key dates 

• Applications open Monday 28 September 2026 

• Applications close at 3pm on Monday 9 November 2026.  

• Outcomes advised Mid-March 2027 

Lord Mayor’s Creative Fellowships — up to $10,000 

This fellowship helps you build your skills and career through access to structured professional development. It is open to eligible emerging Brisbane artists and creative workers with less than 10 years of professional practice. Please note, this fellowship can only support development opportunities where activities start after 22 March 2027 

Key dates 

• Applications open Monday 28 September 2026 

• Applications close at 3pm on Monday 16 November 2026.  

• Outcomes advised Late March 2027

Join a free information session to learn which grant may suit your idea and get practical guidance on preparing your application. Registration is essential to secure a place. 

• 12 noon Monday 28 September at Brisbane Square Library – book now 

• 6pm Tuesday 29 September at Chermside Library – book now 

• 6pm Thursday 8 October at Garden City Library – book now
