Arts Hub Australia — As I write, the 2007 Sydney Writers’ Festival program has been out in the world for seven days. On its release I experienced a strange combination of relief and anticipation. Nine months of intensive planning were suddenly revealed and offered up. Overnight, the hundreds of ideas which for months have been evolving and swirling in my head, entirely dominating my waking hours and inhabiting my dreamlife, became public property. The feedback since the release has been overwhelming and our ticketing office has had to bring in additional staff to cope with the unprecedented demand for tickets. Given most of the program is free, this bodes well.
