Three days of Tiwi culture at Milimika

Milimika is a Tiwi word meaning ceremony, or a place for all people to gather together through dance and song. If you don’t live on the islands, the only way to get to one of the Northern Territory’s newest arts, culture and performing arts festivals is by air. An initiative of the Tiwi Islands Shire Council, the whole idea of Milimika – Tiwi Islands Festival is to bring people together to enjoy life free of local politics. In her first report for ArtsHub, Tiwi Island events manager Denise Officer gives readers the flavour of the three days on the islands:
