Theatre sector commits to cultural change in wake of #metoo

The #safetheatres movement has been given added impetus following a significant, artist-led gathering in Melbourne last weekend.

An artist-led gathering held in Melbourne last weekend has made a long-term commitment to creating workplaces free of harassment and bullying; safe theatres where policies and procedures are communicated and understood; and clear avenues for complaint and redress that respect the rights of all parties concerned are available.

Richard Watts is ArtsHub's National Performing Arts Editor; he also presents the weekly program SmartArts on Three Triple R FM, and serves as the Chair of La Mama Theatre's volunteer Committee of Management.
