First proposed more then four years ago, Theatre Network NSW (TNN) – a new peak body which aims to lead, strengthen and support the professional theatre industry in NSW by building capacity in the small-to-medium and independent sectors, as well as connecting and working with the major companies – was launched on Thursday at the Australian Theatre Forum 2015.
Speaking at the launch, TNN committee member John Bayliss said of the organisation’s inception: ‘Other art forms had their NAVA or Ausdance, but theatre in NSW had nothing to represent it. And we had the shining example of Theatre Network Victoria and the wonderful Nicole Beyer, who has been a wonderful support to us over the years, both telling us how to do it and also proving that it can be done – which is really important.
