Welcome to a bumper issue of The Studio – I’ve tried to cover the hottest shows happening over December and January, making sure you’re in the know and ready to see as much art as possible in the holiday season.
The place to be will certainly be Brisbane, where the new Queensland Art Gallery will reopen with the addition of the brand new Gallery of Modern Art. This is a significant event, heralding the arrival of Australia’s largest modern art gallery which will also be the first to house a purpose-built Cinémathèque. A special acquisitions program for the Gallery has been underway since 2002, collecting more than 1100 post-1970 art works valued at $7.7 million.
