Ivan Sen’s outback cowboy cop drama with Aaron Pedersen leading a cracking cast has been selected to open the 60th Sydney Film Festival.

Ivan Sen wrote, directed, shot, edited and scored Mystery Road, the outback crime Western thriller that has Aaron Pedersen playing Jay Swan, the cowboy detective as Sen calls him, in a cast that counts Hugo Weaving, Jack Thompson, Ryan Kwanten, Tony Barry, Tasma Walton and newcomers Trisha Whitton and Siobhan Binge in its numbers. Tony Barry and Hugo Weaving play a couple of cops, Jack Thompson is a pastoralist who’s seen better days, Ryan Kwanten is a pig hunter and Tasma Walton plays Swan’s wife.
