Local Melbourne promoter and broadcaster, Joel Carnegie, has recently been announced as one of 48 finalists for Channel 9’s Kick Start competition which is running in conjunction to the hit talent show, The Voice.
The Kick Start competition opened voting on 14th May and offers the winning entrant the opportunity to kick start their career. There are six prizes to be won, flying winners across the world, and Carnegie’s hopes lie on London. He hopes to win a prize that will see him receive airfares to London, seven nights’ accommodation, enrolment in a five day business course at London Business School and $1000 spending money, plus more. With this experience, Carnegie believes that “Learning from the best in the business will enable me to take on this cause [promoting Australian arts and music to the world] and allow me to add my voice to the global conversation.”
It’s little surprise that Carnegie has been selected as one of the finalists, given that his entry to the competition – a competition sponsored by Australian Super – features what he would do with his “voice”, it would be “well, super!” to win, and finally, all thanks this “kick-start.”
Other winners will have the opportunity to visit: Cannes, and attend two screenings at the legendary film festival; Kenya, and work on a Masai Mara community project; New York, and attend two shows and one launch party at New York Fashion Week; Arnhem Land, to help protect the marine life of the coast; Berlin, to enjoy the fun and sights of Berlin Music Week and Popkomm.
Carnegie hopes to also utilize the skills he learns internationally back home, after meeting coaches and contestants of The Voice as the second part of his prize. “Meeting some of the great Voices of this country will enable me to connect in with artists and musicians at the peak of their craft, and gain further insights into the Australian arts and music industry,” he continued.
Those voting in the competition are also in with a chance to win big. Voters will be entered into a draw to win one of seven VIP double passes to The Voice Live Final. Along with provided travel and accommodation, the winning voters will also have the opportunity to meet one of the coaches: Delta Goodrem, Seal, Joel Madden or Keith Urban. Voting closes on the 6th June, 2012.
