Cover letters are a disputed issues among hirers. Some reckon they are a waste of time and go straight to the resume. But most work the other way round and read the cover letter before deciding whether to look at the resume.

The purpose of a cover letter is to identify why you’re the best candidate for the position – not just to rewrite your resume. You need to address the selection criteria, but also demonstrate how your personality suits the job and why you are cultural fit for the company.
