National Gallery of Victoria Director Tony Ellwood today announced his intention to ‘paint the town blue-and-white’ in Gaultier’s trademark stripes with The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk.
A remarkable aspect of the exhibition is that Gaultier’s clothes will be 32 custom mannequins utilising high-definition audio-visual projections of a dozen celebrities, including Canadian model Ève Salvail, Smashing Pumpkins bass player Melissa Auf der Maur, and Gautier himself.
