Barrie Kosky returns to Adelaide

The former Adelaide Festival Artistic Director's epic Handel opera Saul will play exclusively at the 2017 festival.

Co-Artistic Directors of the Adelaide Festival, Neil Armfield AO and Rachel Healy, today announced an exclusive season of Barrie Kosky’s opera Saul as the opening event of their inaugural 2017 festival.

Composed by George Frideric Handel with a libretto by Charles Jennens, Saul explores the relationship between the titular first king of Israel and his successor, the giant-slayer David.
