Two arts organisations have been forced to leave Sydney’s Addison Road Centre amidst claims that Australia’s largest community centre is not providing appropriate management.The circus arts school Aerialize has been told it must leave the ARC by the beginning of August, after 12 years using the community space.
The Addison Road Gallery, which represents indigenous artists, has also been refused lease renewal. Another arts organisation, the Sidetrack Theatre space has been told it faces a 90 per cent rent increase to remain at ARC, although other community groups have had their leases renewed without significant rent rises.
