A powerful junior work of fiction celebrating the strengths of matriarchs has won the Daisy Utemorrah Award this year with its author working alongside her young niece to publish the book.
Wiradjuri and Wailwan activist and storyteller Teela May Reid, who is a lawyer, activist and co-founder of Blackfulla Bookclub on Instagram, received $15,000 and a publishing contract with Magabala Books for Our Matriarchs Matter.
