Darwin’s Chan Contemporary Art Space celebrates Christmas rituals in remote communities.

The Chan Contemporary Art Space is closing its 2011 exhibition program with Christmas Birrimbirr, a multimedia installation featuring video and photography, collaboratively created by a collective of Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists and filmmakers in the community of Gapuwiyak in Arnhem Land. The aim of the exhibition is to investigate the celebration of Christmas rituals in remote communities.
